As a longtime reader of Asimov and student of robotics, thank you for this analysis. Of course, he explored the edge cases around the three laws (and more) in his science fiction. They've turned out to be guidelines for ethical development rather than programming and remind us to strive for progress rather than give in to pessimistic assumptions.
