For robots to be useful, they need to be able to grasp and manipulate things in the real world; while great strides have been made, there is still much to do.

I'm convinced that Moravec's paradox will eventually in future be overcome, but the open ended robotic task of a fully autonomous robot is still a long way far. As you suggest, RL makes no sense for different scenarios. We'll see.
